Construction of Kuwait's $1.2bn Jahra Medical City completed

The Jahra Medical City has been inaugurated in Kuwait by HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah after being completed “in record time”. The $1.2bn (KWD364m) development has a total construction area of 72.4ha, of which 23.5ha is covered by a plot of land donated by HH the Amir. Overall, the complex includes four, 14-floor towers for patient rooms, and Kuwait’s largest maternity and gynaecology centre at 45,000m2, alongside an 18,000m2emergency department. Also developed within Jahra Medical City are a 6,000m2central laboratory, four robotic pharmacies, 115 dentistry clinics spanning 29,000m2, and 135 outpatient clinics, totalling 31,000m2. Additional amenities include lecture and conference halls, a 5,000-car parking lot, a helipad, and emergency shelters.​

Qatar's healthcare ranks first in the Middle East

Qatar has witnessed great strides in the healthcare sector despite the illegal blockade that has been in place against the country since June 5, 2017. All public and private healthcare services across the country were delivered without any interruption and in fact, there were several areas which have seen huge improvements and innovations. The country also witnessed the opening of several mega projects and the launch of the highly ambitious National Health Strategy (NHS) 2018-2022 during this period. The NHS 2018-2022 focuses on the triple objective of ‘better health’, ‘better care’ and ‘better value’.

Kuwait ranks third largest healthcare market in the Middle East

Kuwait, one of the world's richest countries per capita, is in the northwestern corner of the Persian Gulf, nestled between Iraq and Saudi Arabia. Spanning over 17,000 square kilometers, the country was home to a population of 3,892,000 in 2015. Statistics shared by National Geographic show that one third of the population is made up of Kuwaiti Arabs, while Egyptian and Palestinian Arabs make up 22% and non-Arabs (mostly South Asians) make up 38 %.

Kuwait Hospital Projects Report

Kuwait is home to one of the more advanced and modern healthcare systems that can be found in the Middle East. It is reported that Kuwait’s private healthcare accounted for around a fifth of total spending and that the Kuwaiti government was funding treatment for many nationals abroad. The government embarked on a US$108bn project to provide an additional 3,500 hospital beds and boost healthcare facilities. It estimated that once the project was completed, an additional 15,000 healthcare professionals would be required. View the Kuwait Hospital Projects Report.
